TJAWINA PORTER NAMPITJINPA
"Happy, Happy..." These were the words both Tjawina and her sister Esther were rejoicing as they entered the gallery last Friday night to view their stories and dreamtime on canvas.
Both ladies were full of excitement at the sight of their works being hung in the gallery and the emotional support and love our collectors displayed to them.
The works Tjawina paints depicts her mother's and father's dreaming, the sites of Yumari, Pangkupirri, Tjukurla and Tjarlirli. These sites are important for ceremonies and as sources of water and important bush food. These are the stories that both Tjawina and Esther sang for us on Friday evening. Downstairs in the main gallery we "white fellas" all gathered around while these two elders sang their stories for us! What an amazing and emotional experience.
The ladies were so appreciative of our hospitality and the warmth our collectors and friends showed them.
They spent part of Saturday at Manly, eating fish and chips by the water and doing a bit of shopping along the Corso!
The TVH Gallery family were very proud to be exhibiting this landmark exhibition and look forward to another exhibition with the sisters. more...
JULY Group Exhibition
DON'T PANIC!!
Don't Panic! in large friendly letters, greet anyone entering the world of "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". This was the inspiration John McIntosh found to create this amazing body of work - "where science at its edges morphs into Alice on acid".
Opening night for John's first solo exhibition at TVH Gallery was a hit - no need to panic!
After our director, Trevor Harvey spoke on the opening night, he introduced John to our clients who were fortunate enough to hear him speak and talk passionately about his works. This was a great opportunity to hear John speak as he had flown in from Perth specially for this occasion. Those who came to view the exhibition saw how John uses bold colour and a surrealist style to create works that have a strong clean and professional quality about them. The works are simply amazing - explosions of pure colour.
Opening night was a lovely way to spend a few hours on a cold Friday evening - warm fire, red wine, great company and beautiful art.
The feedback we have received was hugely positive and we are so excited to see where this talented artist takes us in 2011.
In the meantime, note your calendar for the next opening night on 23rd July .............. another great night not to be missed. more...
LANDSCAPES - A GROUP EXHIBITION
Outside was
cold, wet and a rainy evening. Inside the
gallery however, the fire was burning, red wine flowing with an exhibition of
eclectic Landscape works which warmed the soul and pleased the senses. The
exhibition consisted of four artists, all with a different impression of the
Australian landscape. Those
fortunate to be with us last night had the opportunity to meet and talk with
three of the artists and get a better insight into their creative minds. The works
are hanging beautifully in the gallery and will be on display till 13th
June. So, if you haven’t had a
chance to warm your soul, there is plenty of time – look forward to seeing
you! PS – Our next
exhibition contains works from the highly acclaimed John McIntosh, who found
inspiration in the essence of the late 70’s classic book – “Hitchhickers Guide
to the Galaxy”. Diary Note - Opening Night
Friday 11th June at 7 pm.
Dr Seuss "Green Eggs and Ham"
Dr Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham turned 50! Thank you to all who helped us celebrate the 50th
anniversary of Green Eggs and Ham at the gallery this month. The exhibition was
the largest exhibition of Dr Seuss art ever held in Australia including touring
museum panels of rare memorabilia and the special unveiling of the 50th
anniversary limited edition “Green Eggs and Ham”. The vibe in the gallery was definitely “Seussian”. The motto for the month was to be
serious about not being serious – just like Dr Seuss!. Our front window brought much attention with its great
display while “Seuss the Musical”
played throughout the gallery, ‘Horton” the DVD played on the TV and Dr Seuss
books were available, all while children and adults wondered through the
gallery in amazement at the achievements of this humble genius. If you missed out on the exhibition or you want to see it
again, then make your way to Darwin!!!
That’s right, the Dr Seuss exhibition will be at the Holiday Inn,
Esplanade Darwin from 21st – 23rd May 2010. Our next exhibition is a Group Landscape show with works by Bruce
Earles, Andrew ‘Grassi’ Kelaher , Ken Knight and Herman Pekel. Opening night is Friday 28th
May at 7pm – don’t forget to put it in your diary.
George Ward Tjungurrayi
Tonight TVH Gallery opened the first solo show for WYNNE prize winner, George Ward Tjungurrayi. The directors were extremely honoured to be hosting this historic event and to be showcasing a limited number of very collectable artworks.
The opening night was a success, with clients enjoying the art works and listening to an informative talk by our director and curator, Trevor Harvey.
We were expecting George to make the trip to our gallery for the exhibition, however he unfortunately had suffered a stroke and was unable to travel. We have been informed that he is slowly recovering and wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. more...
Vayu - Our First Show for 2010
What a wonderful way
to begin
our exhibiting calendar! Last night, the
directors
along with our clients warmly and excitedly welcomed contemporary
artist, Vayu
to his first solo exhibition at TVH Gallery. The works by Vayu
can be
described as drawn paintings and offer the viewer an insight into one’s
soul. Vayu’s interest is in
the soul and his subjects are always engaging the viewer with their eyes
...
the window to the soul. The eyes of the
animals -
giraffes, elephants, cows and orangutans to name a few, all express a
definite
message which provides a strong link between the subject and title. If you missed out or
want
another look at Vayu’s works, don’t worry!! TVH
Gallery will be holding a group exhibition showcasing
more of Vayu’s works along with Reni Kung who creates light sculptures
and
James Corbett who creates sculptures out of car parts! Note
your diaries for the opening night
on Friday 23rd July 2010. In the meantime, we
look
forward to seeing you on the 12th March for our solo
exhibition of
George Ward Tjungurrayi. This will
be George’s first solo exhibition and we are extremely proud to be
exhibiting
this esteemed WYNNE prize winner. See you soon!
Farewell 2009........
Season Finale with Warren Salter
Ronald John Neal
Well, its been over 2 years since Ronald John Neal has graced us with a solo exhibition in Sydney and it was certainly worth the wait!
Leigh Hewson-Bower
Photo Realism has now become synonymous with the works by Leigh Hewson-Bower.
TVH Gallery held Leigh's second solo exhibition in late October, titled "One Day in Sydney". The exhibition was created after Leigh spent one day in Sydney earlier this year and went back to WA to create his art works from images of Mosman, Palm Beach, Manly and Coogee.
Leigh was extremely well received on the opening night which quickly followed again at ART Sydney 2009, where TVH Gallery showcased his works.
The colour, technicality and beauty of Leigh's works has brought many collectors asking for more.
We look forward to exhibiting more of Leigh's Sydney in 2010.

Dr Seuss Historical Visit to Newcastle!!
TVH Gallery recently took The Art of Dr Seuss - Retrospective and
Touring Exhibition to Newcastle. The
exhibition housed a groundbreaking collection of 70 years of Seuss’ art history
that included Illustration Art, Unorthodox Taxidermy and the Secret Art Series.
This exciting exhibition of limited editions mixed in with museum panels of
original memorabilia was an eye-opening experience for the general public. This exhibition was so
well received by the Novocastrians, that nearly every second person thanked us
for bringing this event to their hometown. The people of Newcastle were
immensely appreciative, as was their media, with great coverage in the NBN News
and a Newcastle Herald 4 page editorial!
This great and fun exhibition brought smiles and laughter to so many
people, young and old. To top it
off, the people of Newcastle were also thrilled that an event like this went to
Newcastle, before Melbourne! (Scheduled for later in the year).
TVH Gallery donated a piece of Dr Seuss limited edition work for a silent auction. This raised $1,100, which we donated to the John Hunter Children’s Hospital in Newcastle.
Stay tuned for more Dr Seuss news with the impending Melbourne tour.
more...Anita West -
TVH Gallery would like to welcome back the talent of Anita West for her second solo exhibition. Our opening night saw quite a few of Anita's fans return to admire her new works, which included a few very large beach scenes which were spectacular! The night had a real warmth to it, which was not only attributed to the glow of the open fire and red wine, but also to the love that was shown to Anita and her works. Congratulations both to Anita on another great solo exhibition with TVH and to her happy collectors.
Anita's works are more vibrant, colourful and bold than last year which depicts her love of "the chaos of the bush, the dryness of the earth and the layers of history and culture that are intricately woven within it".
June Group Show
6th ANNUAL COLLECTOR'S INDIGENOUS EXHIBITION
ON THE ROAD .........
DID YOU HEAR ANYTHING LAST FRIDAY NIGHT?
We were
honoured to begin our exhibiting calendar for 2009 with internationally
acclaimed artist, Helen Norton.
Collectors,
new clients, seasoned clients, friends and those who were intrigued and
"just wanted to have a look" all came last Friday night to view
"Sydney Purgatorio".
Helen's
intellect and interpretation of her exhibition was amazing and along with her
energy, endeared our clients to her and her artwork.
By the end of
the evening, everyone understood and appreciated the meaning of the exhibition
and how the very old theme of Purgatory and the seven deadly sins, as seen by
Dante, is interweaved with Helen's own creative thoughts on contemporary
mulitcultural spiritual life.
"Can You
Hear Anything" is a major piece in the exhibition and so many people took
the time to view this piece and absorb the message - does our city have a soul,
does it have a heart beat?
The
exhibition is open till 9th April, so if you haven't had a chance to see it,
make the time..........you never know what you can hear.
WELCOME 2009!!
SEASON FINALE FOR 2008........Ho! Ho! Ho!
The champagne corks were popped, music filled the air and friends of TVH flowed through the gallery viewing a spectacular Season Finale Exhibition for 2008.
JULIE DAVIDSON
We welcomed Julie Davidson's second solo exhibition with much anticipation and high expectations.............we were not dissapointed.
Julie's works were
simply beautiful.
Julie's still life art works
invites us to meditate on beauty, mortality and truth. She works
towards arresting time and capturing it at a precise moment.
Julie says she "focuses on capturing the poignancy of a beautiful moment,
its fleeting nature, its impermanence"
It was exciting to see Julie's
art work be appreciated with clients becoming new Julie Davidson
collectors. It was a pleasant evening as the bubbles flowed and clients
were able to have an intimate chat with this highly talented artist.
Congratulations to Julie and we look forward to another beautiful exhibition in 2009.
DARREN JAMES - AN INTIMATE EVENING
Trevor Victor
Harvey Gallery was pleased to present an intimate evening with an upcoming and
exciting photographic artist, Darren James.
Photography,
is an art form we haven't exhibited before so it was wonderful to have this
collection well received by clients and friends of the gallery.
The series of
images exhibited evokes a dreamlike mood, as if its subjects were imagined or
partially remembered.
We are proud
to continue to provide our clients with alternative forms of artistic
expression and a dynamic aesthetic.
The works are still on show at the gallery till the 24th December
more...MACKENZIE THORPE
Red carpet, lights, live music and cocktails was only the tip of the iceberg! The mood was set as clients, friends and fans of internationally renowned UK artist, Mackenzie Thorpe arrived for the unveilling of his new works, including pastels and bronze sculptures. Not only were our guests able to view these amazing pieces of art work, they were also fortunate enougfh to hear Mackenzie speak, which was uplifting, inspiring and yet quite emotional.
This landmark event in the TVH Gallery calendar was one not to miss.
TVH Gallery generously donated part of the proceeds from the exhibition to the Humpty Dumpty Foundation. This foundation is a non profit organisation formed in 1996 to raise much needed vital medical equipement for children's departments of hospitals.
TVH Gallery also generously donated 3 Mackenzie Thorpe limited edition art works to the Manly Royal Far West Children's Health Scheme.
We look fiorward to continue to suport these organisations while at the same time providing our clients the opportunity to view and collect great art works. more...
Bruce Earles

Leigh Hewson-Bower
For those that braved the cold weather and rain on the opening night of
Perth based realist artist, Leigh Hewson-Bower, were truly rewarded.
An esteemed realist painter, Leigh produced a body of work specifically
for his first Sydney exhibition, which TVH gallery showcased.
Leigh's work explores the meeting of land and water in all its variety
and uses tones of blue and green to capture that moment in time. The
exhibition contained wonderful works dipicting iconic landmarks such as
The Heads, Balmoral Beach, Cremorne Point and Palm Beach to name a few.
After visiting our Sydney beaches and harbour, Leigh took over 12
months to produce these powerful yet calming works and we look forward
to experiencing this magic once again in 2009. more...
Anita West
TVH Gallery would like to welcome the talent of Anita West to her first solo exhibition with her new works.
Anita's vibrant, colourful, bold and diverse work is a dichotomy of fragmented images drawn from her experiences of the Australian beach and outback landscapes.
The opening night saw a buzz in the air as clients were taken in with the bold colours of the busy beach scenes. As clients walked through the gallery they were pleasantly suprised at the diversity of her work with the earthiness of the Australian landscape, transcending to a serene tranquility of her nature series.
Congratulations both to Anita on a great first solo exhibition with TVH and to her happy collectors.

COLLECTOR'S 5TH ANNUAL INDIGENOUS ART EXHIBITION
Another successful exhibition of a diverse range of Indigenous art!
The exhibition was co curated between Trevor Victor Harvey and Paul Curtis. Along with our director, Trevor Harvey, Paul has the passion for Indigenous art and artists. This passion was displayed with floor talks conducted over the exhibition and many clients were able to gain further knowledge on their favourite pieces and artists.
The long awaited exhibition did not disappoint clients as the works were diverse in size, colour, vibrancy and price. Collectors were rewarded with close to 60 pieces of art to chose from.
Collectors were also delighted to view a wonderful 'Tommy Watson' piece on display. The colour and movement in this was incredible - a real treat for our clients to see.
We look forward to next year where we aim to raise the bar again and deliver another outstanding exhibition of contemporary art with the fascination of an ancient culture at its core.

Solo Exhibition a near sell out!
For those of you who were able to attend the opening night of Paddy Lewis Japanangka's first solo exhibition will know what I mean when I say - WOW.
Imagine, an Aboriginal senior elder and lawman of the Walpiri tribe here at the gallery in Seaforth! We were honoured to have Paddy amongst us on the night as he walked around the gallery, proudly watching his work being displayed. It was a very moving experience.
We also had a fantastic installation in an area of the gallery where clients could view TV screens dipicting Paddy on his land, painting his stories. Congratulations to Harvey House Productions (HHP) for this great innovative installation which gave our clients a different perspective to the art. We look forward to more!
Paddy Lewis Japanangka's works are truly individual and remarkable and with many serious collectors all agreeing, most of the exhibition was sold prior to the oprning night.
With much interest and appreciation for Paddy's work abroad, it is true to say "watch out for this name". more...

LAST WEEK FOR MACKENZIE THORPE
After a sellout exhibition in Perth and the donation of $115,000 to the Princess Margaret Children's Hospital, TVH was thrilled to welcome the world renowned British artist, Mackenzie Thorpe back to the gallery for our event of the year. The show was launched with a gala opening night where Mackenzie drew a large crowd to hear about his life changing experience with Aboriginal artists, Naata and Nancy Nungurrayi in the desert near Alice Springs.
Those who are familiar with his past exhibitions will have noticed a change in his subject matter and the development of new icons in the work. Mackenzie spoke about his love for the desert around Alice Springs and for the respected Indigeneous artists who gave him the story of the ghost gums and brought about the central work of this show and the name, "Ghosts".
Mackenzie had already created much excitement when he visited the Royal Far West Children's Scheme in Manly and spoke to the children about art whilst helping them to paint a mural for the building.
If you haven't managed a visit yet, don't miss the last week of this spectacular exhibiton and take home the beautiful catalogue of the show containing the DVD of Mackenzie at work in the desert.

GLASSBOROW, JOHNSON, WISSE
Three artists of complimentary talent have opened in the gallery this month. Stephen Glassborow returns for another of his stunning sculpture exhibitons showcasing new bronze works. Stephen's use of a unique technique to create the patina on his works give the pieces a special look and feel very reminiscent of fashion fabric. Some of the works in this show have indeed been influenced by fashion photography.
Jarrah Johnson returns for his second exhibition at TVH and brings his timeless style to the seascapes of his beloved Byron Bay. Jarrah paints as a realisit who endeavours to portray the feel of place rather than true reality. Consequently, his seascapes show our favourite beaches as we would all prefer them, uninhabited by man and basking in their own beauty. Having spent some months last year travelling in Europe, Jarrah has captured the beauty of the everyday in the buildings of Venice and the Greek Islands. The timelessness of his classical figures and close ups of the architecture of these places are perfectly suited to his style.
We are pleased to welcome the wonderful talent of Lisa Wisse for her first exhibition at the gallery. Lisa uses rich colour and line to create evocative landscapes which are fine examples of what has made her a well known artist in her native New Zealand. Along with the landscapes in this show are stylish figurative and floral works. Poetry written by Lisa is applied in a flowing style and overlays some of her works bringing a unique touch to these pieces. The crew at TVH would like to congratulate Lisa on a great first show with the gallery.

Andrew 'Grassi' Kelaher & Stewart Westle Exhibition 2007
COMING THIS JULY!
Due to popular demand Andrew 'Grassi' Kelaher and Stewart Westle are back to Trevor Victor Harvey Gallery this July.
DESERT SONGS LAST WEEK
With just one week to run, our annual indigenous exhibition has proved that not even the atrocious Sydney weather could dampen the enthusiasm for a fine collection of Western Desert art. The outstanding success of the show was complimented by the talks provided by Paul Curtis, Trevor Harvey’s co-curator. Paul’s outstanding knowledge and passion for the artists and their work proved to be the catalyst for many collectors who purchased Aboriginal art for the first time. Our new collectors and those who came back for more agreed with Paul that modern Western Desert Art gives us the colour and vibrancy of contemporary art with the fascination of an ancient culture at its core.
Don't miss the last weekend of the show, it will be another year before you will witness such a comprehensive and exciting Aboriginal Exhibition.

Fabulous First Timers @ TVH
Our first timers @ TVH, Andrew Baines and Jannine Daddo have concluded their exhibition for this calendar year with great success. The Baines Human Sculpture at Manly beach landed on the 6:00 o'clock news Channels 7, 9 and 10. New fans recognized the importance and the power of art. The Daddo phenomenon also scored a goal with new fans. Audiences were irresistibly drawn to the exuberant colours and fanciful relationships that Daddo exposed on canvas.
Well done Andrew and Jannine.
Triple Treat
Stephen Glassborow, Herman Pekel and Jason Jeynes what a superb triple treat.
Three very different artists and categories and yet this exhibition came toghether like a meticulous and well scripted ensemble. Talent with humility was the catalyst by our triple trteat ensemble resulting in a truly fine endeavour, well done gentlemen.
